Portable infrared thermometer used to take temperature of arrivals

Portable infrared thermometers were used today (25 April) in checkpoints to take the temperature of arrivals, announced the Health Bureau.

The Health bureau remarked that the performance the new devises was satisfying. More than 13,000 people have had their body temperature taken with the new devises since midnight to this afternoon.

The portable infrared thermometer can detect body temperature at a distance of 10 centimeters.

Beside, staffs of the bureau continued to take temperature of arrivals at the checkpoints using infrared ear thermometer. In the 24 hours prior to 16:00 today, over 18,000 people have had their temperature taken at the three checkpoints, respectively 4,475 at the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal,13,445 at the Border Gate and 980 at the Macau International Airport.

Doctors in the consultation posts at the checkpoints had answered eleven inquiries and one person has been sent to hospital for consultation.

The Bureau would maintain all preventive measures although no SARS case was confirmed in Macao up to this point, the press release stressed.
