The Health Bureau announced today (25 April) that screening procedures would be introduced in the emergency room of the public hospital on 26 April.

According to the press release from the bureau, starting from 10:00 on 26 April, all patients who went to the emergency room of the Conde S. Januario Hospital would first have their body temperature taken.

Those suspected to have symptoms of SARS would be directed to the special emergency room for further examination and be admitted to the isolation care unit for observation and treatment.

The Health Bureau indicated that the special emergency room had a ventilation system that meet the WHO standard, which could minimize the possibility of viral transmission. Besides, all those entering the room should wear facemasks and protective garments.
