The Unitary Police Service today (25 April) held a press conference on an operation yesterday in which the police seized a number of weapons and detained seven people.
The Assistant Commissioner General of the Unitary Police Service, Cheang Seng Chio said in the press conference that investigation on the case, which had begun last year, was based on information provided by the Commission Against Corruption that a crime organization had been smuggling weapons into Macao before the Handover in 1999.
He further said that as the suspects traveled between Macao and Zhuhai frequently, the Zhuhai Public Security Police have provided support in investigation and information prior to the operation.
Mr. Cheang said that eight spots in the city were raided by police in the operation yesterday morning in which assault rifles, handguns, explosives and bullets were seized.
