MSAR and Portugal sign security protocol

The Secretary for Security, Cheong Kuoc Va, was welcomed by a representative of the Portuguese Ministry for Foreign Affairs and by the chief of the cabinet of the minister for Internal Administration, Isabel Figueira, yesterday (17 September) on his arrival to Lisbon.

During that morning, Cheong Kuoc Va had a first-time meeting with the assistant secretary of state to the minister for Internal Administration, Luí/;s Filipe Sousa.

Luis Filipe Sousa underlined the will of the Portuguese authorities to intensify bilateral co-operation in the area of internal security/; fighting against terrorism, violent crime, drugs, laundering money, and trans-national crimes, as well as training and emergency aid.

Cheong Kuoc Va made a brief presentation about the MSAR internal security, namely, regarding the evolution of the organizational and structural models after December 1999.

The Secretary signed on behalf of the MSAR Government a protocol of cooperation with the Republic National Guard of which included training for inactivation of explosives.
