Macau SAR and Portugal today (10) sign an agreement to further enhance the bilateral cooperation in science and technology.
Chief Executive, Edmund Ho and the Portuguese Science and Technology Minister, Mariano Gago, represented the two governments to sign the agreement at the Government Headquarters.
The protocol enables cooperation between Macau and Portugal in the field of science and technology, such as holding joint studies and research programmes, conferences seminars and other meetings like "Eureka-Asia".
A liaison committee will also be set up under the agreement. General meeting of the committee will be held biannually in Macau and Lisbon respectively.
Mariano Gago said that Portugal, China and Macau have been maintaining an intimate and good cooperation relation adding that Macau could develop into a link between Europe and Asia in the area of science and technology.
Mariano Gago, who arrived Macau on 9 July, witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between the International Institute for Software Technology of the United Nations University and the Institute for International Scientific and Technological Co-operation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Portugal.
