Since early March, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) have been joining hands to organize tourism and MICE promotional activities in various cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Following the seminars in Guangzhou, Dongguan and Zhongshan, the two entities held the fourth and fifth Macao tourism and MICE presentation seminars in Zhaoqing and Huizhou on 9 and 16 April respectively, joined by members of the travel and MICE trade from Macao. The seminars presented the strengths of Macao’s tourism and MICE industries as well as “tourism + MICE” initiatives. Enhancing Macao’s profile as a healthy, safe and quality destination, the seminars also featured business matching and networking sessions to facilitate exchange among industry delegates from Macao and the two cities.
MGTO Deputy Director Cheng Wai Tong and Senior Manager of Promotional Activities and Development of Conventions and Exhibitions Department of IPIM, Elaine Wong, attended both seminars. Executive Vice Mayor of Zhaoqing Municipal People’s Government, Li Ben, Deputy Secretary General of Zhaoqing Municipal People’s Government, Lin Jinhan, and Director of Zhaoqing Municipal Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, Zheng Shiguang, attended the seminar in Zhaoqing. Director of Huizhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, Zhong Liang, and Deputy Director of Bureau of Commerce of Huizhou Municipality, He Hailang, attended the seminar in Huizhou.
At the two seminars, MGTO introduced Macao’s latest tourism development and endeavors to revive its tourism market, besides promoting Macao’s diverse tourism resources and products, etc., for industry partners in both cities to know more about Macao’s diverse offer of travel experiences. In addition, IPIM presented Macao’s advantages in the MICE industry and encouraged MICE organizers to hold related activities in Macao. The seminars also featured business matching and networking on site, facilitating exchange and cooperation between tourism and MICE industry operators from Macao and the two cities of the Greater Bay Area. The two seminars engaged over 120 travel and MICE industry delegates and media from the two cities in total.
As the pandemic situation remains stable in the Mainland, MGTO and IPIM join hands to roll out promotional activities for the travel and MICE trade in various Greater Bay Area cities, to encourage the trade to launch a greater diversity of Macao travel products, widen the publicity of Macao as a healthy, safe and quality destination, as well as strive for more visitations from the Mainland to Macao, in turn expanding visitor source and stimulating recovery of Macao’s tourism and MICE industries.
