The five-day event “Macao Week in Chongqin” concluded successfully today (6 December). The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion (IPIM) organised 24 Macao enterprises to exhibit and sell products during to roadshow, and joined hands with the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce to hold the “Chongqing-Macao-PSCs MICE, Commerce, Trade and Investment Presentation Session”, in which 70 enterprises’ representatives took part and 68 business matching sessions were held. During the roadshow, a number of influencers from the mainland and Macao livestreamed their visits to different exhibition areas, with over 100 million views recorded.

Promoting Macao brands and PSCs’ products through diverse activities

To draw more attention to the multifaceted charm of Macao’s products, IPIM organised 24 companies engaged in made-in-Macao products, Macao brands and Macao agents selling PSCs’ products to join this mega roadshow. Product promotion activities like giving out coupons in mystery boxes or gotchas, as well as featured gifts were arranged to deepen trade visitors and participants’ understanding of Macao’s products while boosting the consumption in the event. Participating residents and tourists reported that the roadshow gave them more understanding of Macao’s and PSCs’ products, and that they will consider buying those products again in the future.

Mascots of “Let’s Hang Out” popped up during the roadshow to interact with participants on-site. The “Let’s Hang Out interactive photo-taking spots” and “popular slang wall”, were set up to promote PSCs’ culture in an interesting and lively manner, adding a Portuguese touch to the event.

The MICE, Commerce, Trade and Investment Presentation Session fosters exchange and co-operation among participating traders

The “Chongqing-Macao-PSCs MICE, Commerce, Trade and Investment Presentation Session” held during the roadshow attracted 70 enterprises to partake in. These companies mainly engaged in supermarket, wine trade, product retail and wholesale, hotel, dining, e-commerce, cultural tourism and convention and exhibition. 68 business matching sessions took place. Enterprisers from Chongqing and Macao said they were gratified by the overall arrangement and efficacy, which allowed them to have deeper understanding of PSCs’ and Macao’s investment climate and advantages of hosting MICE events. They also reported that the face-to-face interaction and video call consultation enabled them to have precise contacts for trades.

Five poles of “Macao Week” fosters ten business conferences, attracting over a thousand business representatives

The Macao SAR Government initiated the series event “Macao Week” in the mainland in an orderly manner. The “Macao Week in Chongqing” is the fifth pole of the “Macao Week” series event following Hangzhou, Jiangsu, Shanghai and Chengdu. The series event enabled ten conferences on MICE, trade and Portuguese-speaking countries, attracting more than a thousand business representatives to join. More than 400 business matching sessions were held, effectively enhancing the linkage of MICE and economic resources between the mainland and Macao. While giving full play to Macao’s role as a platform between China and PSCs, the “Macao Week” created business opportunities for enterprises, publicised Macao’s presence as a healthy and safe city for doing business and travelling, motivated mainland tourists to visit Macao and boosted local economy.
