Regarding references to Macao contained in the 2020 report lately issued by the United States of America’s Congressional-Executive Commission on China, the Macao Special Administrative Region Government (MSAR) states the following:
Since its return to the motherland 21 years ago, the Macao SAR has achieved remarkable successes in a variety of areas, including its responses to the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. Such achievements are evidence of the successful implementation of the “One country, two systems” principle with Macao’s own characteristics, a principle that has gained wide recognition and respect within the international community.
The U.S. report is ignoring facts. The U.S. fails in terms of its own governance, yet attempts brutal interference in the internal affairs of Macao. The practise of such double standards is ludicrous and repulsive. The Macao SAR Government expresses its strong opposition to such report’s claims.
