The fifth-term Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, has completed the procedures – in line with the Basic Law – for the formation of the Executive Council for the fifth-term Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).

The 11 appointees for the Executive Council are as follows: Mr Cheong Weng Chon; Mr Leonel Alberto Alves; Mr Lam Kam Seng Peter: Mr Chan Chak Mo; Mr Ma Chi Ngai Frederico; Mr Lee Chong Cheng; Mr Chan Ka Leong; Mr Iau Teng Pio; Mr Ieong Tou Hong; Mr Zhang Zong Zhen; and Mr Chao Weng Hou.

Their official appointment will be gazetted on 20 December, when the 11 will also be sworn into office.

The role of the Executive Council is to assist the Chief Executive in policymaking.

Mr Ho said he believed that the appointees would fulfil their duties in line with the Basic Law, would serve Macao with loyalty and integrity, and would strive to advance the implementation of the “One country, two systems” principle.
