The Legal and Judicial Training Centre is going to organise a four-day seminar on “Trust in mixed and civil law jurisdictions” that is going to take place at the multi-purpose hall of the Civil Service Training Centre located on Alameda Dr. Carlos D’ Assumpção Cheng Feng Commercial Centre, 6^th floor, on December 4^th to 7^th.

Integrated as part of the 3^rd Macao Special Administrative Region - EU Co-operation Programme in the Legal Field and this training initiative will feature the following guest speaker:

• Alexandra Popovici (Ph.D.), Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Law, University of Sherbrooke, Canada, Project Director of the Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law, Canada.

The Seminar will be conducted in English, with simultaneous translation into Cantonese and Portuguese. The following topics will be discussed:

1. Québec’s Trust (History and Nature - with an overview of the common law trust);
2. Québec’s Trust (Regime – in comparison to common law trusts);
3. Trust in Mixed Jurisdictions (Scotland and South Africa);
4. New Trusts in Continental Europe: the examples of France and the Czech Republic.and enforcement of an arbitral award, in particular the New York Convention.

The 3^rd Co-operation Programme in the Legal Field between the Macao Special Administrative Region and the European Union is going to take place until November 2019. The execution of the Co-operation Programme is coordinated by the Legal Affairs Bureau, together with many entities and public departments of the Macao Special Administrative Region, namely the Legal and Judicial Training Centre, the Institute of European Studies of Macau, the Economic Services, the Consumer Council and the Social Welfare Bureau.
