Macao and Liaoning sign consumer protection protocol to encourage strengthened co-operation in case transafer and information exchange

The Consumer Council and Liaoning Province Consumer Association signed a consumer protection protocol. The Council has signed protocols with 44 provinces and cities in the Mainland and it will continue to strengthen its co-operation with consumer organizations in the Mainland for the expansion of the network and for the provision of timely service to consumers.

The consumer protection protocol safeguards both consumers in both Macao and Liaoning, consumers are now able to lodge complaints at either the Consumer Association or the Consumer Council if consumer disputes arise. After receiving the complaint case, the Association or the Council will transfer the case within 15 days to the other party and follow-up will be made accordingly. The case transfer process provides a green channel for consumers in both places to get access to fast and convenient services.

Aside from case transfer between Macao and Liaoning, both parties will also carry out information exchange, staff training, and promotion work.

“Certified Shop” promotion in Liaoning

The Council indicates that about 300,000 persons visited from Liaoning visited Macao in 2016 but there was only as few number of disputes about the quality of gold and watches. The Council hopes to further protect consumers and enhance consumer protection work through by signing this protocal and strengthen information exchange between the two places. Both the Council and the Association have confirmed to provide a list of “Certified Shops” and “Cosnumer Alert” on the website and WeChat account of the Council to consumers in Liaoning for reference. 

The signing of the protocol was witnessed by Vong Kok Seng, President of the General Committee of the Consumer Council, Lei Ioi Hang, member of the General Committee, leaders of Laioning Province, and signed by Wong Hong Neng, President of the Executive Committee of the Council and Tang Shao Bo, Secretary of Liaoning Consumer Association..
