Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Chui Sai On today (15 April) made an overall briefing on Macao’s preparation and preventive measures against SARS in a press conference.
He said that WHO expert Dr Kouichi Morita, who completed his four day visit to inspect health facilities in Macao yesterday, had given a number of suggestion to the two hospitals, including to triage patient with fever, to improve plenum system outside the isolated wards and to perfect the surveillance inplaced in the three checkpoints and the community.
Mr Chui stressed that the authority has reacted to the above suggestions accordingly and immediately. He added that in line with the instruction of WHO, Dr Morita would submit a proposal to the organization for evulation and suggestion, which the MSAR Government would study thoroughly and make necessary follow ups.
Moreover, the Secretary also made an introduction on the preventive measures taken by the MSAR Govenment, namely the coordination mechanism, information exchange mechanism, surveillance for disease, infection control, facilities for isolation, allocation of man power, etc.
Representatives from the Health Bureau, Center for Disease prevention and Control, hospitals, Fire Bridge had attended the conference.
