Four Macao residents was on board a TransAsia Airways flight (GE354) on 8 April, from Fuzhou to Taipei, which reportedly had taken a Taiwanese was suspected to have contracted SARS, a press release from Health Bureau confirmed today (15 April).
For security reason, the Health Bureau urged the four residents to contact the authority immediately to report their health condition.
According to WHO guidelines for suspected case, these four residents need not to be isolated, however, they should seek treatment immediately if they have any SARS symptoms, said the press release.
In order to safeguard the residents’ health and to strengthen the communication, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Chui Sai On has designated representatives from Health Bureau and Center for Disease prevention and Control to visit Guangdong on 17 April, to learn from the Health Department of Guangdong experience and know-how in combating SARS.
No suspected SARS case had been found at medical consultation counters at the three Checkpoints as of 17:00 today, the press release confirmed.
Up to now, no SARS case has been found in Macao. The Health Bureau will maintain preventive measures to ensure the health of the public.
