A woman with symptoms of coughs and fever was hospitalised and put under observation in an isolated care unit although her symptoms did not suggest atypical pneumonia.
According to a press release from the Health Bureau dated today (3 April), the 49-year-old patient started to have a cough on 1 April and run a fever on the following day. X-ray image revealed infection on her right lung.
She was hospitalized on 2 April evening and her fever was relived after treatment with ordinary antibiotics.
According to the press release, the patient’s symptoms and preliminary diagnoses did not suggest that she is suffering from atypical pneumonia.
The Health Bureau noted that she has not travel out of Macao recently and had no contact with people with respiratory illnesses. Her family members and co-workers were in healthy condition.
Meanwhile, the Disease Prevention and Control Center confirmed that a resident of Amoy Garden, who was hospitalised in Hong Kong for atypical pneumonia on 27 March, had visited two factories in Macao on a business trip to Macao on the previous day.

Seven Macao residents who contacted him during his visit in Macao were asked to stay at home for 10 days, although relative regulations requires an isolation period of 7 days only. None of them have shown any symptoms of pneumonia.
