The Council of Trustees of the Macao Foundation approved today (26 Feb.) the concept design for the Macao Science Centre submitted by renowned architect, I.M. Pei.
The President of the Board of Directors of the Foundation, Vitor Ng said that Mr. I.M. Pei had submitted two proposals for this project, one being a glass structure with triangular features and the other one in the form of an arch.
The Council had analysed both designs and decided one the second one, taking into account the reality of Macao, said Mr. Ng.
A set of scale model would be used to exhibit the design, he added, after the completion of necessary procedure and the scale model itself.
He emphasised that all works regarding the Macao Science Centre were in good course and were on schedule, adding that architectural design phase would immediately follows the conceptual design phase.
The construction of the Centre was expected to be concluded in 2005, Mr. Ng added.
