Chief Executive Edmund Ho today (26 September) concluded that his visit to Mozambique had been fruitful. The two governments had agreed on several issues which would be positive for bilateral relations.
The Chief Executive said that since 1997, when he made his last visit to Mozambique as the president of the Macao Association of Banks, Mozambique had undergone rapid developments that had led to impressive results. He believed that Mozambique could serve as a platform to the African markets for businessmen from Macao and the Pearl River Delta.
Mr. Ho and the delegation had visited Sun City, which he compared to Macao in its aspirations to develop as a gaming, tourism and convention center.
Mr. Ho reaffirmed that these visits enabled the MSAR Government to broaden relationships with countries and regions worldwide, as well as to introduce and promote the successful implementation of the "One country two systems" principal in Macao.
Mr. Ho stressed that extensive and profound external relations were necessary for Macao in the long run, especially with Asian countries and regions, as well as with Portuguese-speaking countries and European countries.
