Chief Executive Edmund Ho today (20 August) confirmed that the Government had received Macao Jockey Club (MJC)'s application for taking bets on horse races abroad.
The Chief Executive said that the authority would study the application with cautious and make determination in the appropriate period.
When questioned if MJC's plan to accept bets races abroad would affect the relationship between Jockey Clubs of Hong Kong and Macao, Mr. Ho added that the SAR Government is willing to provided assistances for MJC to cope with its difficulties. Meanwhile, the authority hoped an agreement would be reached between the two Jockey clubs in order to achieve the goal of mutual benefits.
