106 candidates in 19 lists are to run for 20 elected seats in the coming Legislative Assembly elections to be held in September.
Among the 19 lists, 15 are to run for the 10 directly elected seats while the other four lists will run for the ten indirectly elected seats.
A total of 96 candidates are included in the 15 lists running for the directly elected seats, which is a historic record since direct legislative election were launched to Macau in 1976.
For the ten indirectly elected seats representing business, labor, professional and welfare, cultural, educational and sports interests, 10 candidates have been included in the four lists.
All candidacy lists will be confirmed next Wednesday, provided that there are no objections raised.
According to the Basic Law of the Macau SAR, directly elected seats and indirectly elected seats will both be increased from eight to ten, while the number of appointed seats will remain at seven.
Some160,000 voters, about one third of the population, have registered for next month's election.
