Chief Executive: The visit to European Union and Belgium was successful

Chief Executive Edmund Ho refers today (27) to his four-day visit to the European Union and Belgium as "quite successful", saying that it brought better understanding about Macau to European officials.

The Chief Executive met with the local press before the dinner he hold for the Consular Corps, which visit Macau today.

The Chief Executive said that through the meetings, the European official have a better understanding of the recent development and the implementation of "One Country Two Systems" in Macau.

"Through the contacts and mutual understanding, Macau can fully utilize our conditions, not only to strengthen relations with Europe, but also using Macau as a bridge and a center for European Studies," said Edmund Ho, "that is mutually benefiting and the Macau Government will do whatever we can to facilitate."

The Chief Executive also said that Belgian enterprises have shown keen interests in exploring business opportunities in Macau, and the SAR Government holds a very open attitude to it.

The Consular Corps is on a one-day visit to Macau and have visited the Maritime Museum, the House Museum and other tourism facilities in Macau and the islands of Taipa and Coloane.

During the dinner, Doyen of the Consular Corps, the Consul General of Mexico in Hong Kong said that it was clear that the Macau SAR has experienced a smooth transition, adding that international community recognized the result obtained by the SAR administration as remarkable.
