Director of the Macau Government Tourist Office would like to clarify that according to the complaints recorded, the latest complaint about noise pollution for Lan Kwai Fong was in the late night, that was 23:20 of November 5th, 2000. Since then until the day of the Legislative Council meeting, there were no complaints recorded by the Inspection Division of MGTO, and that has proven that the director did not lie on the matter. On the other hand, he did not request anyone not to make any sorts of complaints.

MGTO has been very concerned about the noise problem in Lan Kwai Fong that disturbs the life of the residents. On October 17, MGTO and CMMP met with the representatives of the residents to discuss about the noise problem for the first time.

On October 23, the MGTO and CMMP met with the representatives from the residents and shops and decided to set up a ¡¥Noise Problem Working Committee¡¦ to solve the problem and the first 4-parties meeting was held on October 26. The committee is composed of representatives from CMMP, MGTO, residents and shops.

After the set up of working committee, the noise problem was improved, as the public, media and even some of the representatives of the residents have proclaimed.

The technical consultant of the working committee has also conducted the on-site testing of noise in the seven entities that received complaints, and on November 6, seven reports, target at the condition of each entity respectively, was published with technical suggestions and guidelines for the entities to improve their sound-proof facilities, which is being undertaken at the present moment.
