To enable students to understand the industry and career development of the local market, as well as to strengthen their collaboration with enterprises, the Student Affairs Office (SAO) of Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) organised a series of activities to visit enterprises in Macao. Recently, MPI students visited the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel, Sands China Ltd, and learned the business model and the dynamics of the job market by observations and exchanges. MPI aims to connect students with the industry, broaden their horizons, and lay a good foundation for enhancing students’ competitiveness and employability.

MPI students visited the core working areas of the Venetian Hotel including the concierge department, housekeeping department, food and beverage department, and the internal staff areas, to better understand the business model, the history and development of the enterprise and technological innovation of Macao's first integrated resort hotel. Ms Lai, a student of MPI’s Management Programme, said that this corporate visit unfolded the daily operation of various departments in an integrated resort hotel and the importance of teamwork amongst various departments in an enterprise. It also deepened her understanding of the professionalism and diversity of corporate positions, and provided inspiration for her career planning. Mr Wong, a student from the Gaming and Entertainment Management Programme, stated that the visit allowed him to understand the corporate culture, human resource management and career prospects of an integrated resort hotel. In the future, he will work on building up comprehensive abilities and qualifications, and strive to become an interdisciplinary and self-motivating professional.
