Health Bureau points out that most discarded food and drinks on streets are contaminated by sewage, placed under inappropriate temperature condition for a long time, or may be sprayed with disinfectant or pesticides; as a result, consuming these types of food and drinks is very dangerous; besides, selling these food and drinks which are unfit for consumption may be deemed to constitute criminal offence; therefore, members of the public are urged not to collect these kinds of food and drinks.

The public are advised to strictly follow relevant guidelines of the Food Safety Centre of Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau to ensure safety of food, in particular, use safe water and raw materials, keep food at safe temperature, make sure food is thoroughly cooked, separate raw meat from cooked food, and maintain good hygiene.
