The last day (March 29) of the 2014 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum and Exhibition (2014MIECF) is designated as the Green Public Day. Under the theme of “Reduce the Use of Plastic Bags to Make Our City Greener”, a series of fun-filled activities has been scheduled, including lucky draw, green workshop, themed games, stage activities and magic shows, which aim to disseminate and raise public awareness of reducing the use of plastic bags as a mean to promote environmental protection.
To constantly enhance the environmental awareness of local residents, and to adopt environmentally friendly behaviour in our daily lives, the Organizer will mark the Green Public Day with a series of activities suitable for the whole family, including environmental workshops which, by means of a bit of imagination and creativity, can turn waste into a wide range of environmentally friendly accessories. The parent-child activities include: magic shows, stage activities and themed games. At the venue, several display boards will be set up with information and tips on reducing the use of plastic bags in our daily lives. The three mascots from the Macao Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) – Mr. Planet, Ms. Tree and Mano Cloud will also show up and take photos with the visitors for a fun-filled weekend. Prizes to be won from the lucky draw consist of the special edition electronic stored value cards designed by DSPA. Besides, local citizens can also join as a member of the Green Points Programme, and be immediately entitled to 50 bonus points. Registered members will received 50 bonus points by participating in any on site activity on the Green Public Day (limited to the participation of Macao residents and each participant will be entitled to the bonus points once).
The Green Public Day is an ideal platform for the implementation of environmental education, and to instil to the students the knowledge and understanding of MICEF´s environmental philosophy. Guided tours are arranged for schools which have already registered for the green guided visit service.
