The Macau SAR Government moved to its permanent Headquarters at Avenida da Praia Grande as from today, October 30, 2000.The head quarter consist of three premises. The two-story building in front, which was the former Governor's Palace during the Portuguese administrations, will be utilize for receiving visitors and other public functions, as well as the Secretariat of the Executive Council and offices for the certain government officials.Offices of the Chief Executive and the secretaries will occupy the rear six-story building, while the four-story building in the middle will be used as offices for the auxiliary divisions of the Headquarters.The Chief Executive's office will take up the two uppermost floors of the six-storied rear building, while the first to the forth floor will be offices of Secretary for Transports and Public Works, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, the Secretary for Economy and Finance and the Secretary for Administrations and Justice respectively. The Secretary for Security had already moved to his office at Calç/;ada dos Quarté/;is, the Headquarters of Macau Security Force. The renovation of the building was designed and executed by the Land, Public Works and Transports Services, which had made their best effort to maintain the original architectural style, while new establishment, such as multi-function conference room, visitors¡¦ hall and pressroom, are added. the MOP36-million project started in March and was completed on October 26.The front building was originally built in 1849, and the former Macau Governor Joaquim José/; da Graç/;a purchased it from its proprietor at the cost of MOP 21,000 in 1881, and used it as the Governor's official residence.
