Macau SAR government organized a series of celebration to mark the first Chinese National Day after the Macau Handover, including the flag hoisting ceremony, march and marathon, official reception and the fireworks display.
The flag hoisting ceremony will be held in the Lotus Park at 8am on the National Day, October 1st, and presided by the Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah. Vice president of CPPCC Ma Man Kei, Director of Central Government Liaison Office in Macau Wang Qiren, Commissioner of Macau SAR Commission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC Yuan Tao, Commanding Officer of Macau PLA Garrison Liu Yuejun, President of Legislative Assembly Susana Chou, President of the Court of Final Appeal Sam Hou Fai, and other honourable guests will attend the ceremony, which will be live casted by TDM.
The ¡§National Day Marathon¡¨, which is also presided by the Chief Executive, will be held soon after the flag hoisting ceremony. Over 5,000 candidates will set off from the Lotus Park, the newest park that stands the golden statue of Lotus presented by the State Council as a gift to the SAR government on the occasion of Handover. They will either run or march in the 3km¡¦s competition. All those passing the finishing line will be awarded a certificate and a commemorative T-shirt. The champion and the association with most members finished the competition will gain the ¡§National Day Cup¡¨.
The official reception will be held in Macau Landmark at 4pm, in which the Chief Executive will make a speech and a toast.
Macau skyline will be lighted up by the brilliant fireworks display at the same night.
