The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) continues to follow up on the condition of an endangered camphor tree in Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida. Although healing measures such as prevention and control of pest infestation, using fertiliser and medication were taken in recent months, the growth condition of the tree has not improved. To save and treat the tree, IAM has continuously cooperated with experts of Guangzhou Institute of Forestry and Landscape Architecture to carry out checks and monitoring of the tree and formulate a proposal for its treatment. Following the suggestion of the experts, pruning for height control will be carried out on 3 February (Saturday). IAM will continue to follow up on the condition of the tree and take treatment measures in hopes to revive the tree.
To ensure safety, the public are advised to refrain from entering the enclosed area during the pruning process to avoid accidents. IAM appeals to them for their understanding and compliance. If they find any abnormality regarding a tree’s growth or health condition, they can report it to IAM through “IAM Connect” or by calling the Civic Service Hotline 2833 7676.
