In the second half of the year, major MICE events follow close upon another in Macao. Over 35 MICE events will take place in Macao from September to December, with an estimated attendance of over 500,000, leveraging the effect of "Industries + MICE". At the same time, it will attract business visitors and tourists to spend money in local community, and promote the image of Macao as an ideal destination for travel and business.
Various major MICE events helping recovery of industries
MICE events organised or co-organised by IPIM will take place in an orderly manner, including the 13th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) from 28 to29 September, three major MICE events currently from 20 to 22 October, namely the 27th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF), Macao Franchise Expo (MFE) 2022, Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (PLPEX) 2022, Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair (GMBPF)” from 11 to 13 November, as well as 2022 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (MICEF) from 9 to 11 December. These events aim to push forward the recovery of multiple industries in Macao, and working with Macao SMEs to explore business opportunities
“Let’s Hang Out – Lusophone and Macao Products Bazaar” boosts community economy
“Let’s Hang Out – Lusophone and Macao Products Bazaar”, organised by IPIM, will have 3 sessions in the fourth quarter of the year, helping SMEs promote their brands and boost the sales of products from PSCs and Macao, enhancing the linkage between MICE activities and the community economy
Exploring new MICE model “Multi-venue Event”
China (Macau) High-quality Consumption Exhibition & Hengqin Global Bay Areas Forum will be held from late November to early December. This event will be held concurrently in Macao and the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Co-operation Zone in Hengqin (multi-venue event), helping to promote the synergistic development of MICE events in the region.
There are also online and offline MICE events to promote local brand industries, technology, professional services and other fields targeting the Asia-Pacific region.
"Tourism + MICE" bringing guests to the local community
Together with other events and activities organised at the same period, the above-mentioned major events will fully leverage the advantages of "Tourism + MICE" collaboration model to facilitate the recovery of peripheral industries such as retail, catering and hotel industries, boosting the community economy.
Complying strictly with pandemic prevention guidelines
IPIM will adopt the pandemic prevention guidelines of Macao Health Bureau, strictly enforcing pandemic prevention measures during the events and community tours. IPIM will also take reference of the anti-epidemic measures of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).
IPIM will continue to closely monitor the latest situation of the pandemic and maintain close contact with the event organisers concerned.
Setting up a "Macao Pavilion" at CIFIT to promote investment
In addition, in order to nurture economic and trade exchanges and co-operation between Fujian Province and Macao, create opportunities for multi-lateral and bilateral economic and trade co-operation, and enhance the linkage between MICE activities and investment promotion, IPIM will set up a "Macao Pavilion" at the 22nd China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), which will take place from 8 to 11 September in Xiamen, Fujian, to align with CIFIT’s concept – helping local competitive companies to go global and bring in high-quality foreign investment.
At the same time, leveraging CIFIT’s open platform and Macao’s advantages of being a part of the "Belt and Road Initiative”, multi- and bilateral economic and trade co-operation and cross-strait economic and trade exchanges, it aims to publicise the opportunities of special business environment and policy in Macao and the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Co-operation Zone in Hengqin, Macao’s MICE advantages, showcasing Portuguese-speaking countries products to promote Macao’s role as a service platform for business co-operation between China and PSCs and IPIM services. Real-time video consultation services will also be available at the “Macao Pavilion”.
