Kompasu is moving across the northern part of the South China Sea. It will come closest to Macao between midnight and morning on the 13th, at a distance of around 400km south to Macao. It will move in the general direction to Hainan Island. Due to the approaching of Kompasu, the local weather will become unsettled with heavy, frequent showers and thunderstorms. Winds will intensify significantly during 13th early morning. The maximum wind will reach wind force level 8 – 9, with gusts. The wind direction will change from northerly, to northeasterly and easterly. The public should pay attention to the change in the prevailing wind direction.
Meanwhile, under the joint effect of storm surge and high astronomical tide, the tide level is rising. Flooding is expected in inner-harbor areas between 11 p.m. today to 5 a.m. tomorrow, with flooding levels below 0.5m. The public is advised to pay close attention to the latest weather information, stay indoors and take precautions against strong winds and flooding.
