The Civil Protection Operations Centre at 29 September found that an alleged picture confirming “the 72nd case” had been uploaded to a social media platform.

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has verified that the picture and information concerned are false. In view of the state of immediate prevention which the Macao SAR Government is still under at the moment, the picture concerned is suspected to be in breach of Article 26 (Offence of prejudicing public security, order, and peace in the event of public emergency) of Law no. 11/2020 (Civil Protection Legal Regime). The Judiciary Police has thus started investigation in accordance with the law.

The Civil Protection Operations Centre appeals to the public not to deliberately fabricate and disseminate the false information concerned to intend to arouse public fear or disturbance, or spread the information concerned even though they are fully aware that it is false enough to give rise to public fear or disturbance, otherwise they may contravene Article 26 of Law no. 11/2020 (Civil Protection Legal Regime) and assume criminal liability.
