Over 41,000 entrants in previous year

The “Keep your receipt” activity was first launched by the Consumer Council in 2014 to strengthen the awareness of consumers to retain their proof of purchase after making consumption. The deadline for submission of the “Keep your receipt 2021” activity ended on 14 May, 7,200 entrants have been recorded for the lucky draw and over 41,000 entrants have participated in the last few years.

Review transaction details

The Council indicates that increasing numbers of consumers are able to provide their proof of purchase as the main evidence when lodging complaints in recent years, the said activity has become a significant part of its work in the promotion of safeguarding consumer rights. The Council will continue to carry out the activity to enhance its effects on consumers.

As electronic payment becomes popular, consumers using mobile devices to make payments are reminded to retain both the proof of purchase and transaction receipts, check the transaction details and amount as well as the balance in the e-wallet to safeguard their own consumer rights.

Businesses are reminded to provide proof of purchase to consumers responsibly to give consumers confidence and to avoid any disputes with them.
