The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), members of the Convention and Exhibition Industry Development Committee, and representatives of local MICE associations joined the UFI Asia Pacific Conference 2021 online on 20 May. The UFI Asia Pacific Conference will be held in Macao in 2022, which is expected to give new impetus to MICE and the peripheral industries of Macao.

The conference this year, comprised of several sessions including group discussions, was attended online by MICE industry leaders from over 20 regions worldwide, who discussed issues being tackled both by the industry and in daily life in Asia and other parts of the world in the post-pandemic era. By organising industry professionals to participate in this conference, IPIM seeks to deepen the exchange between event managers and professional exhibition organisers in Macao and their counterparts in the Asia-Pacific region and relevant international associations, thereby advancing the industry’s development and promoting the image and strengths of Macao as a MICE destination to attract more events to the city.

IPIM’s “One-stop Service” supports industry professionals in organising UFI conferences

As early as in 2019, IPIM successfully secured the right to host the UFI Asia Pacific Conference 2020 in collaboration with UFI members of Macao, including the Macau Fair & Trade Association, Macau Gaming Equipment Manufacturers Association, Nam Kwong (Group) Company Limited, Nam Kwong International Conference & Exhibition Co., Ltd., and Venetian Macau Limited, but the event was cancelled due to the pandemic. After negotiating with UFI, it is confirmed that the UFI Asia Pacific Conference 2022 will be held in Macao and the organisers are now preparing for the event.

IPIM will provide the “One-stop Service” for MICE Bidding and Support in Macao and collaborate with industry professionals to further advance the various tasks to be done before, during and after the conference.

UFI (the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) is one of the key international organisations of the global MICE industry. IPIM’s President Lau Wai Meng was elected as a member of the UFI Board of Directors in November 2020 with a three-year term, and has been doing his best to give major international MICE organisations and their members a better knowledge of Macao’s strengths as a MICE destination. The UFI Asia Pacific Conference, held in a different Asian city each year, seeks to promote the image of the MICE industry by encouraging MICE professionals in Asia to keep up with the latest regional and global industry updates and exchange ideas with other relevant international organisations.
