As consumption by citizens and the number of inbound tourists are expected to increase during Labour Day Holiday, the Consumer Council held a meeting earlier with Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) ), Macao Government Tourist Office (DST), Transport Bureau (DSAT), Judiciary Police (PJ), Public Security Police Force (PSP), Macao Custom Service, Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), Health Bureau (SS) and Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) to discuss on the protection of consumer rights for local citizens as well as inbound tourists.

To better safeguard consumer rights, the Council organizes patrols with Macao Custom Service to promote good business practice among shops. The Council also collaborates with consumer organisations in the Mainland to offer inbound tourists information and suggestion on shopping in Macao.

During Labour Day Holiday (1 to 3 May), the Consumer Council hotline 89889315 will offer 24-hours recording service, complaints or inquiries will be responded and assistance will be given if necessary.

If a consumer finds his or her consumer rights being infringed, he or she should file a complaint at the Council or other enforcement departments. The Council’s one-step online platform “Consumer Online” is also available, consumers may visit “Consumer Online” on mobile devices and lodge complaints using the default options with the submission of text or pictures. Complaints or inquiries may also be submitted via the Consumer Council’s WeChat account.
