The Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Cui Aimin, led a delegation to meet with representatives of the Identification Services Bureau, the Protocol, Public Relations and External Affairs Office, the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau, the Public Security Police Force, the Tourism Office, and the Tourism Crisis Management Office to hold the 12th Annual Exchange Meeting on Macao-related Consular Work in Macao on 29th January 2021. The participants conducted in-depth exchanges on a series of topics, such as the Macao-related consular protection and publicity work last year, consulate affairs, the visa issuance in Macao, the exchange and training on consular issues and so on. Both sides reached a consensus on putting efforts to further improve the consular work in Macao.
In order to deepen the understanding of civil servants of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government on the overseas anti-pandemic work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a thematic seminar on reporting anti-pandemic work of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China was jointly organized by the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, the Identification Services Bureau and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau in the afternoon on the same day. The Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cui Aimin, as a keynote speaker, shared difficulties and achievements in fighting against the novel coronavirus during the event.
The seminar was held on the 7th floor of Centro Comercial Cheng Feng in Alameda Dr. Carlos D'Assumpção in Macao at 4 p.m. on 29th January 2021. There were around 100 civil servants participated. The Acting Commissioner, Wang Dong, and the Director of the Consular Affairs Department, Counselor Ni Lingling, of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, the delegation of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, as well as leaders and representatives of a number of government departments of the Macao Special Administrative Region attended the event.
On the theme of Chinese consular work during novel coronavirus pandemic, the Director-General, Cui Aimin, introduced the work of consular protection for overseas Chinese citizens conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and overseas embassies and consulates of China since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic throughout the world. The content of the event was rich. Participants were benefitted greatly by having deepened their knowledge of consular protection and consular services.
