The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) has recently completed the initial review of the 4th Support Programme for the Production of Feature Films and has selected eight entries for the second review.
The Support Programme for the Production of Feature Films aims to continuously promote the development of the Macao film industry, cultivate local filmmaking talent, enhance the production capacity of local film professionals, and encourage filmmakers to get involved in feature film production, thus spawning more local cinematic works with full creativity. A total of 16 applications were received this year, of which 15 were eligible for the programme. The adjudication panel have selected a list of eligible applicants for the second review (in arbitrary order): Io Lou Ian, Loi Man Keong, Maxim Bessmertnyi, Lo Ka Hou, Chong Cho Kio, Lam Kin Kuan, Choi Ian Sin and Hoi Kuok Meng.
The selected applicants are required to submit the “Application Form for the Second Review of the 4th Support Programme for the Production of Feature Films”, the complete script (Chinese and English or Portuguese and English versions) and related documents, as well as a PowerPoint presentation on a CD-ROM. The adjudication panel will review and select a maximum of four final beneficiaries based on the criteria including contents and creativity of the script, the applicant and film crew’s executive capacity, feasibility of the film production plan, degree of perfection of the entire project, overall budget rationale, completeness of the script, and feasibility of the film marketing plan. The second review also includes an interview conducted by the adjudication panel with the applicants and members of the film crew, after which eligible applicants will receive a subsidy of up to MOP15,000 for the cost of translating the completed script. Each final beneficiary will receive a subsidy of up to MOP2,000,000 and professional advice from veteran film professionals for the production and marketing of the selected feature film.
