Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 241,991 as at end-September 2020, an increase of 1.1% year-on-year. Light automobiles (110,376) and heavy motorcycles (101,594) grew by 1.7% and 2.6% year-on-year respectively, whereas light motorcycles (22,676) dropped by 6.6%. New registration of motor vehicles in September decreased by 1.8% year-on-year to 1,168, with that of heavy motorcycles (645) falling by 15.0% while that of light automobiles (497) rising by 29.8%. In the first three quarters of 2020, new registration of motor vehicles went down by 3.9% year-on-year to 8,801. Number of traffic accidents in September totalled 1,001, involving 369 victims and 2 of them were killed. In the first three quarters of 2020, there were 7,089 traffic accidents which resulted in 5 deaths and 2,557 injuries.

Cross-border vehicular traffic in September decreased by 34.3% year-on-year to 292,043 trips, of which light automobile trips (263,570) and heavy truck trips (27,188) dropped by 33.0% and 9.8% respectively. In the first three quarters of 2020, cross-border vehicular traffic declined by 61.8% year-on-year to 1,513,855 trips. Meanwhile, gross weight of containerized cargo by land in September grew by 49.2% year-on-year to 3,007 tonnes, with 98.8% (2,969 tonnes) of cargo passing through the Checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. In the first three quarters of 2020, gross weight of containerized cargo by land rose by 33.5% year-on-year to 18,968 tonnes.

Gross weight of port containerized cargo fell by 11.9% year-on-year to 11,064 tonnes in September; cargo being handled at the Ká-Hó Harbour (1,776 tonnes) tumbled by 70.6% whereas that being shipped through the Inner Harbour (9,288 tonnes) surged by 42.4%. In the first three quarters of 2020, gross weight of port containerized cargo decreased by 25.3% year-on-year to 83,274 tonnes.

Arriving and departing commercial flights at the Macau International Airport in September declined by 89.9% year-on-year to 606 trips. Air cargo totalled 3,303 tonnes, up by 1.8% year-on-year; gross weight of outward cargo (2,891 tonnes) grew by 31.7%, whereas that of inward cargo (314 tonnes) and transit cargo (98 tonnes) fell by 47.6% and 78.3% respectively. In the first three quarters of 2020, arriving and departing commercial flights declined by 80.8% year-on-year to 10,502 trips, and air cargo went down by 25.8% to 21,052 tonnes.

As at the end of September 2020, there were 109,538 fixed-line telephone subscribers, a drop of 7.3% year-on-year. Number of mobile phone subscribers went down by 22.2% year-on-year to 1,667,259, with stored-value GSM card subscribers (838,255) decreasing by 38.0%. Internet subscribers grew by 8.6% year-on-year to 624,209. In September, the duration of internet usage went up by 1.7% year-on-year to 140 million hours. Total duration of internet usage reached 1.23 billion hours in the first three quarters of 2020, a growth of 4.9% year-on-year.
