The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has lifted a measure requiring those travellers who have been to Qingdao in Shandong Province, in the 14 days prior to arrival in Macao, to undergo 14 days of medical observation in isolation in a Government-designated hotel.
The removal of such a requirement came into effect from noon today. Despite the change, people who have been to Qingdao in the 14 days before arriving in Macao, will be issued a ‘yellow’ notification under the Macao Health Code, the city’s self-certification system. That means such travellers have to exercise caution in the management of their health.
The relaxation on medical observation took into consideration the latest developments in Qingdao, including that the city has not seen a new local case of COVID-19 in more than 14 days. The most recent local case was confirmed on 13 October. In addition, Qingdao has conducted citywide nucleic acid testing; no new case has been identified in the city beyond the bounds of the Qingdao Chest Hospital, and Qingdao has now been declared a low-risk city in relation to COVID-19.
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre is monitoring closely COVID-19 developments in Qingdao and will amend its countermeasures in a timely way if such a step is required.
