"Nangka" (2016) is located at the northern part of the South China Sea and has intensified into a severe tropical storm, and it is moving in a west-northwest direction toward the Hainan Island. Although “Nangka” is at a distance of over 400 kilometers from Macao, under the accompanied effect of “Nangka” and the northeast monsoon, the winds in Macao are expected to maintain in the afternoon, and the wind speed on the bridges, open areas, and high ground is expected to reach the threshold of typhoon warning signal No.8 occasionally, and the outer circulation rain bands will further affect Macao. The weather is unstable with occasional heavy showers and thunderstorms. Since “Nangka” still poses a certain threat to Macao, based on the forecasts and consideration of public safety, SMG urges the public to take measures against the strong wind and heavy showers.
