Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM) jointly organized the Smart Tourism and Open Data Application Seminar today (2 September), to familiarize information technology industry participants with Macao’s smart tourism development, the tourism information interchange platform and more, with the hope that the industry can develop new ways of smart tourism application by capitalizing on the platform.
MGTO Deputy Director Ricky Hoi and CPTTM Director General Shuen Ka Hung attended the seminar together with others.
Head of Information Technology Division of MGTO, Herbert Choi, delivered a presentation about the three first-stage smart tourism projects, namely, smart application for visitor flows, application for visitor insights and tourism information interchange platform, as well as future work direction, such as collection of statistical data about visitor flows based upon the Internet of Things, smart itinerary planning, all-in-one mobile application about Macao tourism and so forth. He also provided an update on the progress of expanding access to smart tourism data through the Special Administrative Region Government’s open data platform, with the aim to vitalize innovative technology application and development in the tourism industry.
Manager at CPTTM, Thomas Mak, as well as speakers from the respective industry, Neildo Choi and Lei Wai Kin, led insightful discussions with industry participants about application of open data of smart tourism, specifically on how to integrate open data with life, foster development of online tourism platforms in Macao and information integration.
CPTTM rode on this occasion to introduce training courses about smart city development for information personnel.
MGTO hopes that the information technology industry personnel can expand their spectrum of application by capitalizing on the tourism information interchange platform and open data, joining hands to push forward local smart tourism development.
