The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) will conduct a decennial Population Census next year, with the aim of collecting the latest demographic and housing information of Macao. In order to test the questionnaire design and the various work procedures of the 2021 Population Census, DSEC is going to carry out a pilot survey in the selected area along Estrada da Areia Preta and Avenida de Venceslau de Morais between 8 and 22 August this year.
The Pilot Survey for the 2021 Population Census covers all individuals living or staying in the residential, industrial and commercial units located in the selected area. The units will receive a notification letter from DSEC in early August. Two types of questionnaires, the long form and the short form, will be used in the Pilot Survey. Households that are selected to complete the short form may fill out the paper questionnaire by themselves and return it to the visiting Census officers, while households that are selected to complete the long form may wait for the Census officers to visit their residence for data collection. Households may call the hotline at 8809 8809 during office hours to schedule a visit. In addition, an online questionnaire is available for households to provide information. All households that receive the notification letter may visit the webpage of the 2021 Population Census Pilot Survey ( www.dsec.gov.mo/Censos2021 ) to complete the online questionnaire between 8 and 17 August.
The Pilot Survey is crucial to streamline the operation of the 2021 Population Census and DSEC appeals for the support and cooperation of the public. Further information is available on the webpage of the 2021 Population Census Pilot Survey ( www.dsec.gov.mo/Censos2021 ) and enquiries can be made by calling the hotline at 8809 8809.
