Regarding a person who left her designated room without permission to another floor of hotel rooms while undergoing medical observation at a designated hotel, the hotel reported the incident to the officer of Public Security Police Office on duty at the hotel. Further to that, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) condemned the act and demanded the hotel to inform all lodgers once again to abide with the provisions of the Law on the Prevention, Control and Treatment of Infectious Diseases. Those contravening the regulation may be subject to compulsory quarantine in addition to corresponding criminal liability in accordance with the law.

Around 7 p.m. on 28 July, a person undergoing medical observation at a designated hotel escaped the scrutiny of the security guard and left her own room without permission to another floor of hotel rooms. Her act was discovered by another security guard on patrol, who immediately escorted the person back to her room.

According to Article No. 14 of the Law No. 2/2004 on the Prevention, Control and Treatment of Infectious Diseases, persons under medical observation must stay at the location designated by Health Bureau and cannot leave without permission. Those contravening the regulation may be subject to compulsory quarantine in addition to corresponding criminal liability in accordance with the law (the penalty for violation is a prison term of up to 6 months or a day-fine of up to 60 days). The person who left the room at the designated hotel for medical observation has signed a statement of declaration for being well informed of the above regulation.
