In order to let the public obtain more geographic information for emergency via mobile phone, Cartography and Cadastre Bureau, under the support of Unitary Police Service, Meteorological and Geophysics Bureau, the Office for the Development of the Energy Sector, Marine and Water Bureau, Municipal Affairs Bureau, Education and Youth Affairs Bureau and Social Welfare Bureau, has launched an updated version 3.0 of “GeoGuide for emergency” mobile map App. In addition to providing important information such as the areas may be affected during different “Storm Surge” warning levels, zones may be affected by Power Suspension Measures, real-time severe weather warnings information and location of each Emergency Refuge Centre, the latest version includes the function of walking route planning to the nearest Emergency Refuge Centre in advance, the temporary garbage collection points during emergency response to disasters, latest news of water supply and environmental hygiene guideline during tropical cyclone.
Introduction of walking route planning to the nearest Emergency Refuge Centre function
“GeoGuide for emergency” version 3.0 introduces the function of walking route planning to the nearest Emergency Refuge Center in advance. With just one click, the walking route from your current location to the nearest Emergency Refuge Center can be clearly displayed, enabling citizens to plan the walking route in advance for the prevention of disasters and risks. On the other hand, in response to public needs, the application is also available with the function of “avoid steps” and searching for walking route between two points directly on the map.
Providing the latest geographic information for emergency and risk/disaster prevention guidelines
New version of “GeoGuide for emergency” provides the latest information about the affected zones of Power Suspension Measures and the water level monitoring stations, as well as the temporary garbage collection points during emergency response to disasters, latest news of water supply and environmental hygiene guideline during tropical cyclone. Moreover, the online version can display the current severe weather warning signals, including tropical cyclones, rainstorm, thunderstorm, and “Storm Surge” warning levels, real-time water level monitoring station information and sailings information, so that the public can browse various types of emergency information.
