The Consumer Council conducted a survey on the habit and hygiene awareness of consumers on using different kinds of chopping boards. Result shows that consumers mainly use chopping boards made with wood, plastic, and bamboo, a feature on using chopping boards including the pros and cons of the said materials is included in issue 321 Consumer Report.

The survey result reveals consumers’ price preferences on choosing this kind of household product and their habit of using it. The Council consulted the Catering Services & Cooking Training Centre of the Association of Macao Federation of Trade Unions for advice on using and preserving different kinds of chopping boards, representative of the Centre indicates that hygiene and safety awareness of food and beverage outlets have been improved in recent years, colour coding has also been adopted for using chopping board to handle different kinds of ingredients. The latest Consumer Report includes a feature on the handling process of a consumer complaint as well as the Council’s training work on “Certified Shops”, “Certified Shops” participated in the training indicate that they will continue to support this kind of training and acknowledged its effectiveness. The current Consumer Report also includes an interview with one of the Class A Certified Shops of 2019.
