The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has confirmed a 14th case of COVID-19 infection recorded in Macao, involving a 42-year-old female resident of the Republic of the Indonesia, who is a relative of a non-resident worker registered with the Macao authorities.

The patient is now being kept in isolation for treatment at Conde S. Januário Hospital. She is described as showing mild clinical signs of infection relating to the novel coronavirus.

On 17 March, she boarded Cathay Pacific flight CX718 from Jakarta to Hong Kong. She was in seat number 47F. The now-patient then travelled to the Macao boundary crossing area serving the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. During the checkpoint formalities there, it was discovered that she had a fever. The patient was then transferred to Conde S. Januário Hospital for further examination. She was at that time categorised as a person with moderate risk of COVID-19 infection.

She was transported home by her husband after receiving some initial treatment and undergoing a COVID-19 diagnosis test at Conde S. Januário Hospital. She stayed at home until taken to Conde S. Januário Hospital after the test showed positive for infection from the novel coronavirus.

The Municipal Affairs Bureau would assign a cleaning team to disinfect public areas of the patient’s residence. Further details of the patient’s travel history and of those people that might be identified as having had close contact with the 14th patient since her arrival in Macao, will be disclosed in a timely manner.

Four patients – namely the 14th case mentioned above; as well as the recently-confirmed 11th, 12th, and 13th cases – are being kept in isolation for treatment at Conde S. Januário Hospital. The 10 previously-confirmed cases had all been discharged after receiving treatment at the Conde S. Januário Hospital.
