The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will repatriate its residents on board the cruise ship Diamond Princess via charter flights. The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) has received the full support and assistance of the HKSAR Government, and having obtained the consent of the Macao residents on board the cruise ship Diamond Princess, has entrusted the HKSAR Government to assist in arranging for the return of these Macao residents. Staff from the Health Bureau and Tourism Crisis Management Office of the MSAR Government have left for Japan on the evening of the 17 of February to accompany the related tasks.
There are 5 Macao residents on board the cruise ship Diamond Princess, 2 men and 3 women, aged between 24 and 82 years old, three of whom simultaneously hold Macao and Hong Kong Resident Identification Cards. The MSAR Government has been in regular contact with the residents, that are expected to disembark on February 19 (Wednesday).
Subsequently, the 5 Macao residents will be flown back to Hong Kong on the charter flight arranged by the HKSAR Government, 2 of whom are holders of both Hong Kong and Macao Resident Identification Cards plan to stay in Hong Kong, and the other 3 will return to Macao on special transportation organized by the HKSAR Government. Upon arrival in Macao, they will be placed under medical observation and isolation for a period of 14 days in a designated location according to the requirement of the Macao Health Bureau.
