Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 240,746 as at end-2019, a slight increase of 0.3% year-on-year. Light automobiles (109,579) and heavy motorcycles (99,818) rose by 1.0% and 2.0% respectively, whereas light motorcycles (24,020) dropped by 8.5%. New registration of motor vehicles in December totalled 1,068, down by 14.2% year-on-year. For the whole year of 2019, new registration of motor vehicles decreased by 14.4% year-on-year to 12,418, with heavy motorcycles (6,410) and light automobiles (5,423) falling by 13.1% and 15.2% respectively. Number of traffic accidents dropped by 4.1% year-on-year to 1,174 in December, and number of injuries totalled 415. In 2019, number of traffic accidents edged down by 0.5% year-on-year to 13,691; number of victims added up to 4,512 and 8 of them were killed.

Cross-border vehicular traffic in December increased by 5.2% year-on-year to 464,610 trips. In 2019, cross-border vehicular traffic went up by 8.8% year-on-year to 5,358,583 trips. Vehicular trips passing through the Checkpoint of Cotai (1,630,627) rose by 8.3%, whereas those going through the Border Gate (3,265,328) dropped by 2.8%; besides, there were 425,848 trips crossing the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Arrivals and departures of commercial flights at the Macau International Airport totalled 6,538 trips in December, a growth of 14.5% year-on-year. For the whole year of 2019, arrivals and departures of commercial flights rose by 18.6% year-on-year to 73,594 trips; trips to and from mainland China (30,983) and Taiwan (13,066) showed respective increases of 29.7% and 4.0%.

Gross weight of containerized cargo by land in December soared by 44.7% year-on-year to 2,644 tonnes, while that of port containerized cargo declined by 25.5% to 10,967 tonnes. In 2019, gross weight of containerized cargo by land surged by 34.2% year-on-year to 21,528 tonnes, of which cargo passing through the Checkpoint of Cotai expanded by 36.8% to 20,319 tonnes. Meanwhile, gross weight of port containerized cargo dropped by 14.5% to 146,295 tonnes, with cargo being handled at the Inner Harbour (76,106 tonnes) and the Ká-Hó Harbour (70,188 tonnes) falling by 15.0% and 13.9% respectively year-on-year.

The Macau International Airport handled 4,468 tonnes of air cargo in December, down slightly by 0.3% year-on-year. For the whole year of 2019, air cargo went up by 1.8% year-on-year to 42,216 tonnes; gross weight of inward cargo (7,219 tonnes) and outward cargo (29,549 tonnes) grew by 1.9% and 7.4% respectively, while that of transit cargo (5,448 tonnes) reduced by 20.8%.

As at the end of December 2019, there were 116,383 fixed-line telephone subscribers, down by 6.2% year-on-year. Number of mobile phone subscribers rose by 28.1% year-on-year to 2,793,474. Internet subscribers grew by 8.6% to 589,632 and the duration of internet usage in December increased by 14.9% to 136 million hours. For the whole year of 2019, total duration of internet usage reached 1.59 billion hours, a surge of 25.0% year-on-year.
