The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) of the Macao SAR Government organized a delegation of ten local cultural and creative groups to participate in the 14th China (Yiwu) Cultural Products Trade Fair (hereunder referred to as “CCPF”) in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, from 27 to 30 April. The Macao Creative Pavilion was set up to showcase Macao’s cultural and creative products and services, in a bid to explore more business opportunities and expand the sales channels for the city’s cultural and creative industries.

The 14th CCPF took place at the Zhejiang Yiwu International Expo Center from 27 to 30 April, lasting for four days. The opening ceremony of the Macao Creative Pavilion was held on 27 April, at 11 am, and was officiated by the Deputy Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Xu Peng, the Vice Mayor of Yiwu Municipality of the People’s Republic of Chnia, Meng Jiao; the Head of the Department for Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries of IC, Ho Hong Pan; and the Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of the Zhejiang China Commodities City Group Co., Ltd., Wang Dong..

In his speech, Ho Hong Pan, Chief of the Department for Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries of IC referred that by organizing the participation of the local cultural and creative delegation in the CCPF, IC aims to use this platform to showcase the city’s distinctive cultural and creative products and services to the world. Meanwhile, it hopes to create more business opportunities and seek more sales channels for the future development of the industries as well as promoting the unique cultural characteristics of Macao, a city where Chinese and Portuguese cultures have fused together harmoniously.

The Macao Creative Pavilion, located at Zone B1-07 of the Expo Center, has been modeled on the “Macao Light Festival”. It reflected the prosperity and glamour of the city and the distinctive appeal of the various cultural and creative groups, suggesting the city’s cultural and creative industries are shining out on the international stage. The pavilion used a house-shaped timber structure to separate itself as a little cultural and creative factory for the viewers to visit. On the wall were a variety of hand-drawn designs related to Macao’s cultural and creative industries, such as performing arts, creative gastronomy and handicrafts.

The participating local cultural and creative groups in the CCPR included: “Choochoo Culture Creative Ltd.”, “San Seng Fung – The Cultural and Creative Products Incubation Centre”, “Innovation Centre Company Ltd.”, “Moco Moco Design Ltd.”, “Tiger Power Sports Products Ltd.”, “Master Equipment Company Ltd.”, “Macau Soap and Detergent Production Company Ltd.”, “Macao Chinese Culture Museum”, “Macau Travelling and Cultural Exchange Promotion Association” and the “Macao Creative Animation Promotion Association”.
