A ceremony for the promotion to the ranks of Assistant Commissioner and Chief Superintendent was held today (2 January) at 2:30 pm at the Public Security Police Force Headquarters. Commissioner Leong Man Cheong, Deputy Commissioner Wong Chi Fai, Deputy Commissioner Lao Wan Seong and Acting Deputy Commissioner Vong Vai Hong officiated at the ceremony. Attendees also included heads and officers-in-charge of various departments, who congratulated the police officers on their promotions.
Six senior police officers, Ku Keng Hin, Ku I Kan, Tong Chi Meng, Lei Chong Man, Lao Sio Leng and Chio Song Un, were promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner. Upon completion of the Senior Police Officer Training Programme at the Academy of Public Security Forces, they were promoted to Chief Inspector and served as officers-in-charge of various departments. With expertise and substantial work experience, the six senior police officers had outstanding performance and were promoted and awarded commendations several times. They were the Acting Head of the Resource Management Department of the Public Security Police Force, the Advisor of Office to the Secretary for Security, the Division Chief of the Police Affairs Liaison and Public Relations Division of the Unitary Police Service, the Acting Head of the Traffic Department of the Public Security Police Force, the Acting Head of the Land Checkpoint Management Department of the Public Security Forces Affairs Bureau and the Acting Commander of the Tactical Police Unit of the Public Security Police Force respectively prior to this promotion.

In the promotion ceremony, Commissioner Leong Man Cheong encouraged the promoted police officers to maintain their efforts, discharge their duties to the utmost, observe strict discipline and serve as role models in their new posts as they lead their fellow officers to overcome difficulties and create and write a better page for the Public Security Police Force with concerted efforts.
