The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, today called on all voters to exercise their right to vote, and to select their preferred ticket for representatives to sit in the Legislative Assembly, who would then play a role in supervising the Government’s work.

Mr Chui made the appeal to voters to exercise their civic right after casting his own ballot at noon at the polling station at Instituto Salesiano.

When speaking to reporters, Mr Chui stressed that the Electoral Affairs Commission for the Legislative Assembly Election had devoted all-out effort – in line with the Legislative Assembly Election Law – to ensure the polls were held in a lawful, fair, just, open and clean manner.

The election process was being conducted in an orderly manner, said Mr Chui, expressing his gratitude to all staff working in the polling stations.

When asked why certain would-be visitors had been refused entry to Macao coincidental with the election period, the Chief Executive said he believed such action had no direct link to the work either of the Electoral Affairs Commission or of the Commission Against Corruption.
