The China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo (CITIE) 2017 is currently held in the China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex at Guangzhou from today (8 September) until 10 September. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) seizes the opportunity to showcase the destination together with tourism trade delegates from Macao at the Expo, while joining the tourism authorities of Guangdong and Hong Kong to promote their multi-destination tour routes and expand the diversity of source markets through the event.
To showcase Macao’s unique cultures, major international events and latest travel tips to Guangzhou citizens as well as industry delegates and visitors from worldwide through the international travel expo, MGTO has set up a 90-square-meter exhibit booth themed as “Experience Macao Your Own Style” at CITIE this year. MGTO Deputy Director Cecilia Tse and Head of Marketing Division, Cora Vong, are participating in the Expo together with travel trade delegates representing 11 tourism businesses from Macao including travel agencies, hotels, integrated resorts, tourism and entertainment facilities, etc. The Vice-Governor of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, Deng Haiguang, Director General of Department of Policy and Legal Affairs of CNTA, Man Hongwei, Director General of Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province, Zeng Yingru and other major guests officiated the opening ceremony of CITIE this morning.
Besides the “Experience Macao Your Own Style” booth, MGTO also joins hands with Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province and Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) to operate another joint booth in the Expo for promotion of tourism resources and multi-destination itineraries offered by the three destinations. Back in 1993, the tourism authorities of the three destinations co-founded the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Tourism Marketing Organization and established a solid long-term collaborative mechanism to press ahead with related work projects and enhance their communication and cooperation, in strong dedication to brand the Pearl River Delta Region as one high-quality destination.
CITIE 2017 has attracted global and domestic exhibitors from 55 countries and regions as well as 22 Mainland provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. The exhibition floor measures 90,000 square meters and accommodates over 200 new exhibitors this year. The number of exhibitors has nearly doubled over that of last year, proving the vastness of CITIE’s impact on the tourism industry. As 2017 is the China-ASEAN Year of Tourism Cooperation and also marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), CITIE held a China (Guangdong) – ASEAN Tourism Presentation and Exchange Event yesterday (7 September) attended by officials of CNTA, the People’s Government of Guangzhou Municipality, as well as tourism authorities of ASEAN countries, Mainland provinces and municipalities among other guests. An evening banquet and a courtesy meeting with senior officials of Guangdong Province took place yesterday and were attended by the Vice-Governor of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, Deng Haiguang, Director General of Department of Policy and Legal Affairs of CNTA, Man Hongwei, Director General of Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province, Zeng Yingru, MGTO Deputy Director Cecilia Tse, tourism ministers and tourism department officials of various ASEAN countries as well as their ambassadors to the People’s Republic of China, among other dignitaries.
