Macao resumes reception of tour groups starting from today (2 September). According to preliminary figures reported by members of the travel trade, an approximate total of 410 Mainland tour groups are hosted in Macao today and tomorrow. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has issued a safety guideline to local travel agencies and hotels days ago, calling for their preparation in advance and awareness of safety concerns in order to safeguard Macao’s image as a travel destination.

MGTO has assigned inspectors this morning to patrol various ports of entry and major tourist attractions to examine the situation on the first day of tour group resumption. The situation was smooth overall by far.

Severely devastated by Typhoon Hato, Macao had suspended reception of tour groups from 25 August to 1 September to allocate more resources for rescue missions in the catastrophe and restoration work of the city following the hit of the typhoon.
